La importancia de disponer de datos en ciencias sociales

El objetivo de este artículo es analizar la importancia del acceso a datos públicos que contengan indicadores sociales, puesto que permiten verificar de forma cuantitativa hipótesis realizadas sobre aspectos sociales.
Se han tomado datos del Banco Mundial (BM), referentes a la inflación y al deflactor del producto interior bruto (PIB), para verificar que suele existir una importante correlación entre ambos, lo que permite:
- emplearlos como indicadores equivalentes e
- identificar aquellos datos que no cumplen con esta premisa, porque la correlación entre ellos sea anómala, lo que puede ayudar a depurar la base de datos.
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is analysing the importance of publicdata availability, especially when they include social indicators, as they allowchecking quantitatively hypothesis on social aspects. World Bank data referring toinflation and gross domestic product (GDP) deflator has been taken to checkthat there use to be an important correlation between then, which allow:- to employ both inflation and GDP deflator as equivalent indicators and- to identify data which do not fit in this hypothesis, as they have an abnormalcorrelation, which can help to clean up the data base.
