Abstract

This essay aims, through the analysis of the content of the Book of the reception and professions of the nuns and religiouses of the monastery of San Clemente in Toledo, to know, as far as possible, how many were the nuns who joined the monastery between 1574 and 1835; how these joinings are distributed throughout time; which is the ratio between professed nuns with black veil and religious with white veil; who they were and to which families they belonged; which where their places of origin; how old they were at the moment they joined the community and how long their life in the cloister was.
