"Brocardos", "latines" and "latinajos"
: an approach to the whys of the survival of Latin within the Spanish legal language

This paper attempts to find some of the reasons why Latin has survived over the centuries in legal Spanish and is still used today. Through an interdisciplinary approach that combines legal and linguistic analysis, it aims to explain why Latin expressions are still used heavily in legal Spanish, rather than Spanish translations from Latin.
