Mulāy Zaydān set in motion several negotiations with Louis XIII of France and Philip III of Spain in order to recover his belongings, plundered by a crew of French merchants and then brought to Spain. His library stands out among them. In this article, the highlights of his first claim -where books are not mentioned specifically yet- are examined
