The intellectual world of the Monastery of Monasterio de El Escorial revolves around two focal points: the Library and the Apothecary; each with its own sphere of activity and trajectory, yet united by books and study, leaving an indelible mark.
This work analyzes each of these spaces, their origin and purpose, summarizing the development of their creation and operation under the attentive gaze of Philip II of Spain, and in the presence of great artists, scientists, and humanists who, through their work and knowledge, embodied the monarch’s vision.
